Arsenal and Chelsea meet in the Europa League final on Wednesday night in Baku, Azerbaijan and both will be looking to put off-field controversy behind them and concentrate on the football.
The Gunners have had to deal with the fact that Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be traveling due to his safety concerns in Azerbaijan, which has disrupted their preparation. Meanwhile, the Blues have problems more of their own making with manager Maurizio Sarri reportedly set to move to Juventus, star player Eden Hazard likely to be leaving for Real Madrid and a number of key injuries going into the contest. Chelsea remain favourites with the bookmakers to lift the trophy, but they will have plenty to overcome, not least their opponents, if they are to do so.
Mkhitaryan is obviously out for Arsenal for political reasons, while they are missing Aaron Ramsey, Denis Suarez, Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck through injury. Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is 50-50 to make it for the clash and certainly will not be fully fit if he is risked while struggling with a knee injury. Sarri is definitely without Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill through injury.
